The CEO of Samsung who didn’t let his daughter use a smartphone until she was 11 years old

The director of Samsung Mobile in the UK has said that his daughter was not allowed to use a ‘smartphone’ until she turned 11.

“Personally, I didn’t want to give my daughter a phone before she turned 11, but other parents can make their own decisions for their children about when they should get a phone,” James Kitto said.

She said that no matter what age children start using phones, it’s important to make sure they are safe in the online world.

Amanda Spellman, the chief inspector of Ofsted, the agency that sets educational standards for the British government, admitted a few days ago that she was “surprised” to learn that even primary school children now have smartphones.

A research study released this week revealed that children as young as nine are now viewing pornography online.

James Kitto took over the leadership of Samsung UK in December last year. He told the BBC’s ‘Today’ programme, ‘The most important thing is that anyone of any age should be safe whenever they use a smartphone.’

“Talking about my house, my daughter got a smartphone when she turned 11.”

“Whatever you decide, at whatever age your child wants to use a smartphone, the important thing is that they are safe when they are on the Internet,” he said.
